Easy Savoury Scrolls

These are so delicious! You can put anything for the filling really, but I chose to make these ones savoury and put tomato paste, pesto and cheese inside.

RECIPE

Ingredients:

300ml warm water

1 teaspoon yeast

1/2 teaspoon sugar

3 cups flour

1 teaspoon salt

Filling

1 tablespoon tomato paste

1 tablespoon pesto

1/2 cup grated cheese

1. In a large bowl, add the water, sugar and yeast. Mix it around with a fork then leave to stand for 10 minutes.

2. Add the flour and salt to the mixture and mix it round with the fork until it comes together.

3. Knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes.

4. Return the dough to the bowl and cover with a damp tea towel. Leave in a warm place to rise for 1 1/2 hours.

5. The dough should have doubled in size. Punch it down and knead for 30 seconds.

6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangular shape.

7. Spread your filling all over the surface of the dough, and sprinkle the grated cheese over evenly.

8. Grab the shortest edge, and roll the dough into a long log shape.

9. Cut your log into 9 even pieces.

10. Place your 9 scrolls into an oiled oven proof dish, with the swirly side facing up. The dish should be big enough to fit all the scrolls with some space around them to expand. I did 3 rows of 3 in my square dish.

11. Leave to prove for 1 hour in a warm place.

12. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius.

13. Bake the scrolls for 30 minutes or until golden brown on top.

14. Remove from the oven and cool on a cooling tray for 10 minutes.

Enjoy!
